TABARD INN: TALES OF QUESTIONABLE TASTE

As of January 1, 2009, TABARD INN has closed its doors to submissions permanently. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I cannot afford to continue publishing a quality fiction magazine. TABARD INN has a very small, but very loyal, following, and I thank you all for helping me survive this long. But there simply wasn't enough of you. After three issues, I have made absolutely no profit. I fell $7,800 short of breaking even. I can't continue to feed myself and publish TABARD INN, and for this I am very sorry. Many of you have suggested that I start publishing TABARD INN as an online journal, but I just don't have the heart. Granted, I've never paid my writers very well (another thing for which I am truly sorry), but there has always been something special about TABARD INN, and that is the fact that it was a print magazine. Would I have as much of a loyal following if this was an online journal? Probably not. Would my writers be just as happy with an online publication? I don't think so. There is something magical about holding a magazine in your hands, and knowing that you were a part of it. There is a sense of accomplishment with a print magazine. No offense to online publications (there are a great many of them with a high degree of quality), but anyone could have an online journal. How many are willing to sacrifice their time, money, and soul to producing something a reader could hold in their hands? So again, I apologize to you all, and I thank everyone who has ever stopped by the TABARD INN. There is one more thing. Because so many issues went unsold, and I would like to free up some space in my house, I am offering brand new deals on all Edgewood Ent. merchandise. Be sure to check out our all new prices and help me restore some of my dignity. Thank you.
