L’Amour is probably the greatest classic writer of westerns. I love his work more than any of the old timers, except maybe Portis’s TRUE GRIT. This is a collection of short stories. I tend to like his novels better, but…

WHAT I’M READING NOW: RING by Koji Suzuki
I loved the movie (both the original and the US remake), so I picked this book up a long time ago. I’m glad I’ve finally gotten around to it. So far, it kicks ass, and it’s very different from the…

WHAT I’M READING NOW: SPANISH CROSSING by Alan LeMay
I’m a huge fan of THE SEARCHERS, both the movie and the book. LeMay wrote a hell of a book, but sadly, it’s the only thing I’ve read by him . . . until now. This is a collection of…
WHAT I’M READING NOW: THE WALKING DEAD: THE FALL OF THE GOVERNOR PART 1 by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga
I’m actually surprised by how good these books are. Media tie-in novels almost universally suck. There really is no point to them, except to see some of the stuff they cut out of the movie or TV series, since they…

WHAT I’M READING NOW: TO THE DEVIL–A DAUGHTER by Dennis Wheatley and DAMNATION 101 by Kevin Sweeney
A long time ago, I saw the Christopher Lee movie TO THE DEVIL–A DAUGHTER, and I liked it. I didn’t think it was great, but it was fun. So now I’m giving the book a try. Also, I’m reading DAMNATION…

WHAT I’M READING NOW: BEN by Gilbert A. Ralston
I loved WILLARD. Both the original and the remake. BEN? It was all right. I wouldn’t say it sucked, but it’s not the best way to spend one’s time. Maybe the book will be better. Let’s see where this takes…
