WHAT I’M READING NOW: DEATH’S ACRE by Bill Bass and Jon Jefferson

I bought this book about ten years ago when I heard Bill Bass on the radio, and the story of the Body Farm fascinated me (although not enough to read the book right away). By this point, I figured I would have lost interest, but as soon as I started reading it, I really enjoyed it. I’m 50 pages in, and it’s great. It’s odd what people do in the name of science. Bass talks about this one guy who used a variety of saws on a corpse just to see what it looked like when that happened. On a regular basis, they dump human corpses on the Body Farm and watch how they decompose in various settings, like in the trunk of a car or, well, you get the idea. This is a fun read so far.
