It’s one of Ace’s old books from the ‘Fifties. I’ve never read Maine’s work before, but I can’t help but notice he’s got quite a bit of homophobia in his writing. He also seems to believe that the birth control pill, which was still being FDA approved back then, would cause men to become obsolete, hence the title. He’s got some interesting things to say, but they’re deeply underscored by his bigotry. I’m still going to finish the book out of curiosity, but I don’t think there’s going to be much more to say about this book.
